The purpose of this outing is two-fold – introduce those who would like to try kayaking and have fun! If you have an extra kayak or paddleboard or would be willing to loan yours to someone without, please bring it and let me know.
Those with kayaks/paddleboards – be ready to shove off at 4:30 pm at the Battery Way Park and Boatramp. Every boat must have a life jacket. We’ll paddle over to the picnic at Picnic Park and help those who want to try it, switching up boats as necessary. If you’re bringing more than one boat we can tow the extras over to the picnic. You’ll need to figure out if you can paddle your food over or if you should drop it off beforehand.
Those without kayaks – meet at 4:30 (or perhaps a bit after) at Picnic Park, where the picnic will be. Wear shoes/sandals you don’t mind getting wet (they will get wet), and a change of clothes in the car, just in case. If you’re in a kayak it’s extremely unlikely you’ll get very wet (again, feet will get wet), but if you try a paddleboard, you might.
We will have a lot more kayaks than paddleboards, so those who especially want to paddleboard will need to be patient for a turn.
Please contact me if you’re coming. I need to take a count of how many people and boats we have. More than likely we’ll need to switch up to give everyone a try. If you have a kayak or paddleboard you’d be willing to loan, but won’t be able to attend please let me know.
Please remember that this is a LOS members-only event.
See you on the water!
