Happy September!! Here is an update on some of our most recent and upcoming events, so grab a cup of your favorite beverage as you can catch up on what’s going on with Ladies On Spokes 😊
Silver Comet anniversary ride: We had 10 ladies join our 30-mile Silver Comet Anniversary ride. It was a beautiful day for the ride and the temperature was perfect. After our ride we enjoyed some wonderful fellowship over lunch at The Rails At Rockmart. Several of us also spent the night at The Manor at Beck’s Lake where we enjoyed the the peaceful and relaxing atmosphere and a delicious dinner prepared by our hosts! We thoroughly enjoyed relaxing on the dock and our spirited games of Left-Right-Center where Mary was the big winner!!! A good time was had by all.
LOS Board positions: The President and Secretary positions will need to be filled this year. We could really use your help to step up and keep our club going! The board meets every few months to handle club business and plan our exciting events! We have such a wonderful group and we want to keep it going strong, so please consider volunteering!
Events:
1) Monday night rides are still going on until Daylight Savings Time ends, which is November 2nd
2) Sunday, Oct 6th – is the Lewis Grizzard (FERST) ride. This ride supports our local children with books and has several distances available. We have several ladies doing this ride.
3) We are planning a Halloween ride, tentatively on Sat Oct 26th, with more details to come.
4) Claxton – right now we have 10 members riding the Cruisin’ In the Country ride the beginning of November. Registration is still open so if you plan to ride, let me know so we can be sure to invite you to the Friday dinner and coordinate start times for the different miles being ridden.
5) LOS Christmas party- Sunday, Dec 8th at 2pm. More details to follow but please mark your calendars for our annual party.
Additional rides and events are always popping up and we always welcome people adding rides, hike, walks, and kayaking get togethers to the calendar! With the cooler weather heading our way, it's a great time of year for getting some outside time. Keep checking the calendar regularly for rides and events.
Club update: Our club has 50 members and our financial balance is currently $1984. Last year, we had some extra income from Wreaths Across America and members volunteering at the Peachtree City Tri events. We won’t have the opportunity for Wreaths Across America this year and only a few people have volunteered for the Tri events so unfortunately, we won’t have that extra income going into next year. We changed webmasters this year, which saved the club about $800/year. There has been a bit of a learning curve with the website, and we are working to better help people with registering, which has to be done each year.
