06/11/2025 -  RE: LOS Club update - June 11, 2025

Good afternoon –
 
If you weren’t able to make the pizza social, you were missed!  We did have 13 members show up and enjoyed seeing each other and meeting a couple of new members.  Thank you to all who showed up and especially those who brought goodies with you to share!
 
The pizza social/meeting to be the last “required member meeting” and so looking forward to socials and planning get togethers as Ladies On Spokes moves from being a corporate entity back to the social group it originally started out as. I think this is a great way to proceed and everyone who has attended meetings and who I’ve talked with agree. 
 
Here’s a recap of the meeting portion of the social from the social/meeting: 
 
1.Southside Cycling Club had offered to allow LOS to become a “specialized club” under their club umbrella.  This was a very thoughtful gesture from SSCC. There has been much discussion on the SSCC proposal. At the end of the meeting discussion, all voted to not become part of SSCC and stay a small social ladies only activity group. 
 
2.With the change of LOS from corporation back to a social activity group, a date needed to be picked to have this take effect for the IRS and Secretary of State paperwork.  It was decided to use the date the insurance expires.  The D&O expires 6/20 and the liability 10/15, so the date of the liability expiration was the date chosen.  The necessary paperwork will be taken care of and as per the by-laws, any remaining funds need to be distributed to a local 501c.  The group decided to donate these monies to Bike Coweta for the benefit of kids. 
 
3.Events coming up: 
 
a. June 26^th or 27^th will be our Kayak, potluck picnic event.  Chris Darling will check on getting the pavilion again at Lake McIntosh.  Details will follow but in years past, people met for kayaking around 3pm and potluck started around 6pm.  Further details to come real soon.
b. July 18^th or 19^th will be a memorial ride for Carl’s 70^th birthday, riding on the Silver Comet and then going to Trillium Winery.  Marcia will post details once firmed up. 
c. LOS Ice Cream ride – Deb Mariner and I will be looking at alternative routes for safety in riding to Greg Farms for an ice cream ride. Date set is July 12^th.  Details to follow. 
d. Anniversary ride – we will do an overnight event, as in past years.  Places talked about were The Manor at Beck Lake (as in past few years) and ride the Silver Comet, or do the Rabbit Trail in Greenville, SC.  No date set yet but this has historically happened towards the end of September or beginning of October.  If you have a preference on place or suggestions of hotels in Greenville, please let me know. 
e. Christmas Party – Place and time to be determined.  If you have a place or any suggestions for the Christmas party, please pass them along. 
 
I think that’s it for now.  Calendar and Facebook are open so if you have any suggestions on things to do or want to just get a group together for a movie, dinner, games, etc, that’s what we’re here for….oh, and also for cycling!!
